ABOUT ME

I am a graduate from IIT Delhi, Majored in Computer Science with Specialization in Data Sciences. My goal in life is to utilize my research potential, and acquired skill set in CS to bridge gaps between concepts in academia and real life exploitation of those concepts.

In near future, I wish to focus my attention to finding good inter-disciplinary problems in fields like biology, sociology, operation research, social networks, physics, energy sector etc, and utilizing my skills to create tangible solutions, and means to deploy the same to desired audience.

Modeling multiple-purchase behavior and utilizing it to display optimized recommendations is a central problem for online e-commerce platforms. Rich personalized models and fast computation of optimal products to display for such models can significantly enhance the end user experience on the platform and lead to higher revenues. Motivated by this, we present a parsimonious multi-product choice model called the BundleMVL model,and develop multiple exact and iterative methods that compute optimized assortments/recommendations given such a choice behavior. The simplicity of our choice models and the iterative nature of our computational methods are key in meeting the stringent statistical and computational constraints for such recommendation/display applications, and we show their efficacy compared to competing modeling and optimization approaches using several real world datasets.

We encounter network flows in day to day life. They are the backbone of logistics, city planning, processes etc. In order to study these networks, domain specific connectivity graphs along with their historical observations are used. Traditionally, birth & death process, Little's law, Burke's theorem, etc. have been applied to analyze various network flow scenarios. In this paper, we approach similar problems using Monte Carlo simulations, Markov Chain and Queuing Theory, which provide an edge over traditional methods in case of high dimensionality of multiple nodes. The methodologies described in paper can be applied to various situations of business formulations: Load/traffic balancing, Queue reduction, Network Anomaly detection, etc. This paper provides an effective tool for designing, diagnosing, monitoring & predictions of process of networks. Networks flow are the backbone of logistics, city planning, processes, etc.

The problem we were dealing with is specific to Government Schools in Delhi. The Directorate of Education,Delhi has 1024 schools under its supervision. These schools are spread across different zones across Delhi. The schools can be classified into different categories based on what classes they teach. There are primary schools, secondary schools which teach the high school students and there are senior secondary schools which teach the +1 and +2 students. Multiple Inspection records exist for each school which are conducted at different points of time across the year by the Delhi Education Board. They also conduct Surprise Inspections when necessary. It has been noticed that the students in these schools are under performing and the governments wants to understand the main factors behind it. They want to utilize the inspection records to identify patterns between the school performance and the various factors like cleanliness, attendance, Location of school, Type of building in school, etc. The government wants to exploit these patterns to develop an actionable plan in order to change these patterns in a desirable way to increase the performance of the school thus increasing the quality of education provided.
